Purikura Review: Rumor Lots of Lips

This is an update of 2012’s Rumor machine. Let’s see what changes we have!

Aesthetically, the updated machine has a more muted feel to it, the first machine was black white and red, especially those red lips! While the new machine still has the red lips the overall look has more neutral colours. I think the older version stood out more.

Obviously the set-up and the inside of the machine is the same as the first version so I won’t go over that again.

The course choices are also the same. Silk skin or light skin.

The courses for the decoration have also not changed, pastel and vivid. We chose vivid as that’s the one I used for the first review.

New backgrounds! Some of them are the same as the first version but there are quite a lot of new ones too. Overall they are similar styles to the old version. Lots of black and white, and graffiti style backgrounds. A lot of the new ones have a kind of watercolour mix effect which is really pretty!

Decorations!

Now one of the things that didn’t impress me with the original was that a lot of the stamps were thin and either black or white which made them hard to place on those colour clothes.

Well, there are some nice new stamps and that watercolour effect is present on some stamps and messages.

There are still a lot of black or one colour stamps, but there are a few places where you can choose which colour you want.  There are also more lip prints than before. I guess it really is a ‘lot of lips’.

I really like the font on the names on the bottom left, those triangle As are cute. It looks like it belongs to the GYZA machine but it’s not quite the same as those ones.

Names with messages:

Oshare (stylish) stamps

P1070058

This is a new thing, there are auras you can choose and you can even choose from black, white or pink for the color!

P1070059

The stamps are ok, sort of groups by colour.

Pink x Black x White

P1070062

Simple

P1070063

Semi-transparent (these work quite well)

P1070060

Colour Messages. You can choose the colour you want on the left!

P1070066

Handwritten style.

P1070065

Casual messages (Yeah, I don’t know either)

P1070067

The font options, look at all those lovely colours, including rainbows!

The change tab has the make up and accesories, things like that.

Colour change is available here too!

The layouts have also had an update. There are less overlapping layouts, which were cute but hard to cut out if you later wanted too.

P1070073

You can also get special layouts with big pictures for anniversaries or birthdays.

Rumor was a machine that I wasn’t too impressed with when I first took it. And I remember choosing not to take it on a few occasions. However I do think that it has improved with this update. Both the design and the quality of the pictures. However the digital pictures look much better than the print out. The colours are quite different and muted on the print out. And of course that special angle makes it still a unique machine.

I think I still prefer other machines but I wouldn’t avoid it as much as I avoided the first version.

High Angle

We decided to see what it would look like if I, at 170cm and wearing heels, stood up straight…

…yeah that doesn’t work.

  2. I like the old machine's appearance better too, but the new stamps are really cute.
